MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Two members of the University of Memphis Lady Tiger
Tennis Team have qualified for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association
(ITA) Southeast Region Tournament to be held on the campus of Wake
Forest University, November 4-7.
Junior Christina Ladyman (Perth, West Australia), a two-time All-C-USA
selection, qualified for the main draw and will play North Carolina State's
Francie Barrigan at 10 a.m, Friday. Ladyman finished the fall season with a 9-4
record at No. 1 singles.
Freshman Sabrina Lindemann (Linz, Austria) is also travelling to Wake
Forest to participate in the qualifying round, Thursday. Lindemann needs
to win her matches in the qualifying round to move into the main draw,
Friday. The freshman accumulated a record of 11-4 at No. 2 singles for
the Lady Tigers this fall. She will face Louisville's Melisa San Martin,
at 2 p.m., Thursday, with the winner advancing to play the winner of the
No. 2 seed Jeni Burnette (UNC) and Judit Trunkos of Winthrop University match.
The winner of that match-up advances to the main draw.
The duo also qualified for the doubles portion of the tournament. They
have combined for a record of 4-2 at the No. 1 doubles spot this season. The team
will face the team of Mayorga/Witten from the University of Kentucky at 2:30 p.m.,
Friday.
