The University of Memphis women's tennis team (6-8) lost for the first time in three matches, 3-6, Tuesday.
The Lady Tigers won two of the three doubles matches with the No. 1 team of Christina Ladyman (Perth, West Australia) and Sabrina Lindemann (Linz, Austria) downing the team of Magui Cibils and Siobhan Byrne, 8-4. Memphis also won the No. 3 doubles match when the duo of Claire O'Donoghue (Derbyshire, England) and Annika Westberg (Harnosand, Sweden) defeated Megan McCoy and Belinda Guthrie, 8-6.
But the Lady Tigers were unable to capitalize on their doubles' edge, winning just one singles match when Lindemann downed Cibils, 7-5, 6-1, at No. 2 singles.
Memphis finishes its home regular season when three Conference USA foes come to town over the weekend. The Lady Tigers will square off with Saint Louis at 2:30, Friday, before facing DePaul at 9 a.m., Saturday. The conference preview finishes with a 2 p.m. contest against Southern Miss, Saturday.
The Conference USA tournament takes place Apr. 13-15 in Tampa, Fla. The meet is being hosted by South Florida.
