Memphis, Tenn.-- - Despite the chilly temperatures, the University of Memphis women's tennis team was unable to cool off Middle Tennessee State (4-4), falling 9-0, Saturday.
MTSU swept the doubles portion of the match to open the afternoon's play, with the No. 2 duo of Tanja Buchhein and Katja Kuehner defeating the Memphis team of Betsy Card and Angie Wilkinson, 8-6.
Despite winning her opening match, freshman Sabrina Lindemann was unable to down MTSU's Katja Kuehner at No. 2 singles. Lindemann won the opening match 6-3, but fell 6-2 and 6-1 in Memphis' last hope for a point.
Memphis falls to 1-2 for the season, coming off their first win over Louisiana-Layfette, Friday, 8-0. The Lady Tigers finish this home stand, Sunday, against Samford University beginning at 10 a.m. at the HPER Courts on campus.
