Sea Ray Results

The University of Memphis men's and women's track and field teams competed at both the Sea Ray Relays and the Ole' Miss Classic this afternoon. Susan King highlighted the weekend as she was the Tiger with the most success posting two school records.

King finished where she left off from yesterday, as she recorded a mark of 17.53 meters (57-06.25) to place second in the shot put and record yet another school record and NCAA regional qualifying mark.

Steffen Nerdal took fourth in the hammer with a mark of 66.67 meters (218-09) and Seth Major placed sixth in the shot put with a mark of 16.42 meters (53-10.50).

The majority of the Memphis men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Ole' Miss Classic in Oxford, Miss.

Deneen Kirk raced to a tenth place finish in the 200 meters crossing the line in 24.76, for her fastest time of the season. Jessica Wright took third in the 400 meters with a time of 55.17, which was also a personal-best for the sprinter.

In the 800 meters, Tina Sherratt ran a season-best time of 2:16.34 to place sixth. Charlotte Abrahamsen just missed making the 100 meter finals as she ran a 14.56, .02 off the last qualifying time.

Abrahamsen and Chen Edri both had a final jump of 5-07.00 (1.70) in the high jump. Abrahamsen later took sixth in the long, with a distance of 5.50 meters (18-00.50). Wright had a leap of 5.63 meters (18-05.75), placing fourth.

The women's 4x100 meter relay team posted a time of 47.07, in their first showing of the outdoor season.

Preston Williams took eighth in the men's 110-meter hurdles, as he crossed the line in 15.12. Richard Lowe clocked a time of 54.11 in the 400 meter hurdles to take sixth.

In the 3000 meter steeple, distance runner Wesley Garrett grabbed fourth place, finishing the race in 9:55.72.

Leaping to new heights in the pole vaule was Brian Prackett, as he soared to a height of 14-07.25 (4.45) to place second. Also taking down a second place nod was freshman jumper Aaron Whetstone in the triple as he recorded a final mark of 14.66 meters (48-01.25).

Back-to-back finishes in the men's shot put were Glen Edwards and Knut Syversen as they went 2-3, with marks of 16.49 (54-01.25) and 16.47 (54-00.50). Syversen also took down fourth in the discus and the hammer.
