Memphis, Tenn.-- - The University of Memphis men's tennis team improved to 2-3 overall with a 6-1 win over Western Kentucky, Sunday.
Memphis swept the doubles matches for a point, helped by two close tie-breaker victories by Alistair Todd and Ben Stapp and No. 1 doubles and Michael LaHaie and Jamie Adams at No. 3 doubles.
Todd and Stapp both had their hands full in their singles matches at No. 2and No. 4, respectively. Todd won the opening set of his match, 6-1, before falling 6-1 in the second. He battled off Western Kentucky's Michael Lindskog for a 7-6 win in the third. Stapp also had a couple of 7-6 set wins. The freshman won his opening match 7-6 before falling 6-3 in the second. He fought Evalds Jurans off for a 7-6 win in the third.
The Tigers next opponent will offer a peak at Conference USA when the Southern Mississippi team comes to town, Friday for a 3 p.m. match.
