MEMPHIS - The University of Memphis men's golf team will look to continue its recent string of success when it tees off in the Conference USA Championships on Sunday morning. The tournament will be held April 20-22 at the Texarkana Country Club in Texarkana, Ark.
The Tigers are coming off a third place finish against a very strong field last week in the River Landing Intercollegiate. Senior Robbie Greenwell tied for fifth in that event and was named C-USA Co-Golfer of the Week for his efforts. It was the Georgetown, Ontario, Canada native's second weekly award of the spring.
Joining Greenwell in Texarkana for head men's golf coach Grant Robbins will be senior Ian Rochester, who was named C-USA Player of the Week for his win at the Charleston Southern Spring Invitational March 3-4. Senior Kyle Ritchie, who along with Greenwell, shot a 70 in the final round of the River Landing Intercollegiate. Junior Brad Benjamin, who earlier this week was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team for the second consecutive year. Sophomore Brandon Bunn will be the lone underclassman competing for the Tigers. Bunn finished tied for fifth at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate March 24-25.
Tee times for the C-USA Championship will begin at 8 a.m. Sunday-Tuesday. Live stats will be available on www.golfstat.com.
