MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Senior outside linebacker DeMorrio Shank, who has lettered for three seasons for the Tigers, suffered a broken second metatarsal bone in his right foot and will be lost to the team for several weeks. According to Memphis athletic trainer Ed Cantler, Shank will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis to determine his return to the squad.

The Tigers practiced twice on Monday at Murphy Athletic Complex and all the news was not as bleak as the report on Shank. Senior wide receiver Al Sermon, who was thought to have broken his fibula, just suffered a severe ankle sprain and should be back in a few weeks.

Senior offensive guard Lou Esposito was held out of action during the morning session due to a sprain patella tendon in his right knee. He is expected back at practice during the afternoon session.
