MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Senior pitcher Jarod Wilson (Seattle, Wash./ Mendozino JC) received the Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year award during the M Club's annual senior awards banquet on Thursday. Wilson (a computer science major at the U of M), currently holds a 3.86 GPA and his 2.90 ERA ranks second on the Tiger pitching staff.

Wilson (2-1) has provided solid pitching for Memphis throughout his 10 appearances this season and has recorded 20 K's through 31 innings of work. He ranks first in opponents batting average (.211), third in games started (4) and has allowed just one home run all season, while adding a save to his credit. Wilson's last outing came during Wednesday's 9-3 victory over Arkansas State, where he surrendered just one hit and fanned four through six complete innings, for his second win of the season.

After being used primarily during middle/long relief situations through the first half of the season, Wilson has quietly emerged as a mid-week starter for the Tigers and has displayed consistent movement on all of his pitches.
