Outlook for 2008: Competitive, team oriented and ready to put past two years of battling injuries behind him. Coaches very encouraged with progress in rehabs and if healthy, could land significant rotation job.
2007 (Redshirt Freshman): Redshirted 2007 season after being sidelined by an early-season injury...Did make two appearances, including one start...Was dominant in those two outings, holding the opposition scoreless in 4.1 innings of work. Struck out five (no walks) and allowed just two hits in 15 batters faced...Opponents hit just .133 against him...Saw his first action on Opening Day vs. Ole Miss (2/20/07)...Fanned two in 1.1 innings...Made the start in the home-opener vs. UT-Martin...Struck out three and no-hit the Skyhawks through three innings.
2006 (Freshman): Pitched in just two games before suffering a season-ending elbow injury...Struck out five in just three innings of action...Drew his first start against Mississippi State (4/19/06)...Struck out three and held the Bulldogs hitless in two innings...Came on in relief against Troy (3/10/06) in his first collegiate appearance...Fanned two in an inning of work.
Prep: Earned All-Conference, All-Region and All-State honors in his high school career...Was a four-year letterman for head coach Ed Rich at Southaven High...Pitched, played first base and outfield for the Chargers...2005: Went 7-1 on the mound with a 0.71 ERA...Hit .450 as the Chargers advanced to the Mississippi Class 5A state quarterfinals...2004: Hit .337 with six homers and 32 RBI as a junior...Went 7-0 and maintained a 1.14 ERA on the mound with 81 strikeouts in just 49 innings of work...His junior campaign was highlighted by a 16-strikeout performance against Northwest Rankin in the 2004 State Playoffs.
