Tammy DeGroff is in her fourth year as the women's basketball media relations contact and her sixth overall as an Assistant Sports Information Director at the University of Memphis. She also served two years as a graduate assistant from 1999-2001. DeGroff serves as the Lady Tiger basketball contact, and also handles media relations duties for men's and women's tennis programs. She also assists at home Tiger football games and with various website projects at www.gotigersgo.com.
A native of Rio, Wis., DeGroff spent the 2001-2002 season as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C. There, she served as the contact for volleyball, women's basketball, men's and women's tennis and softball.
A 1995 journalism graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, DeGroff worked in the Blugold Sports Information Office for two years before spending one year in Chicago as a media relations intern for the Mid-Continent Conference. She then volunteered for one year with the Madison Mad Dogs as a media services intern in the now-defunct Professional Indoor Football League.
DeGroff then served as the Assistant Director of Media Relations for the Gulf South Conference in Birmingham, Ala., before coming to Memphis for graduate school.
A member of Co-SIDA, DeGroff resides in Memphis. In Memphis, she has worked the last seven Fed-Ex/St. Jude PGA Tour Stops in the media relations area and has assisted at Memphis Motorsports Park when the NASCAR Truck and Busch series have made their annual stops over the past four years.
